Dear Fordham Student,
Welcome to Fordham University and to the Rose Hill community. I am excited that you have chosen to join us at the Jesuit University of New York.
As you begin your Fordham experience, you are joining a community that will challenge you to think deeply, engage fully, and discover what matters to you. Your education will certainly take place in classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and studios, but some of your most important learning will also happen through the relationships you build, the organizations you join, the conversations you have, and the ways you contribute to our community.
That is an important part of what it means to be educated at Fordham.
Throughout Orientation, you will hear us talk about For What Matters. We want you to pursue academic excellence, develop a strong sense of belonging, engage with our Jesuit mission and values, and begin thinking about how your talents and education can make a difference in others' lives.
You will not do this alone. Our Orientation Leaders, Resident Assistants, Commuter Assistants, student leaders, faculty, and staff are here to welcome you, answer questions, and help you navigate your transition. At the same time, we will challenge you to take an active role in your Fordham experience—to meet people different from you, get involved, ask for help when you need it, care for one another, and contribute to a community grounded in respect and the dignity of every person.
My colleagues across Student Affairs and I are here to support you throughout that journey. Whether you have a question, encounter a challenge, or simply need help figuring out where to begin, please reach out.
Student Affairs Resources
I encourage you to become familiar with the many offices and resources available to support your Fordham experience:
- Office of the Dean of Students – Rose Hill: Support, guidance, referrals, and assistance navigating challenges throughout your Fordham experience.
- Office of Residential Life: Housing, residence halls, move-in, and residential community life.
- Office of Student Involvement: Orientation, student organizations, leadership opportunities, commuter student services, campus programs, and involvement.
- Counseling and Psychological Services: Counseling, mental health resources, consultation, and support for students.
- University Health Services: Health care, wellness resources, and support for your physical health and well-being.
- Office of Disability Services: Resources, accommodations, and support to help ensure equitable access to your Fordham education and experience.
- Ram Van: Transportation connecting Fordham's Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses.
- Title IX Office: Support, resources, and guidance related to sexual and gender-based discrimination, harassment, and misconduct.
- Student Affairs: Explore the broader network of programs, services, and offices available to support your success and well-being at Fordham.
For now, continue checking your Fordham email and reviewing Orientation information as you prepare for your arrival. Most importantly, come ready to participate, connect, and begin making Fordham your own.
