Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
Jonathan Crystal joined Fordham in 1997 as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science. He was appointed to the role of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in the Office of the Provost in 2011, and then to his current position of Vice Provost for Academic Affairs in 2019. (During the academic year 2018-19, he served as Interim Provost and Chief Academic Officer of the University.) In his current role, he works closely with faculty, deans, and other administrators on matters relating to faculty affairs, research and teaching, and shared governance,
Before coming to Fordham, Crystal earned his BA (1987) and PhD (1996) in Political Science, both from Harvard University, and then taught for a year at Georgia State University in Atlanta. His scholarly research centers on political responses to economic globalization, the politics of international trade and investment, and the role of multinational corporations in the global political economy. His publications include Unwanted Company: Foreign Investment in American Industries (Cornell 2003), as well as peer-reviewed articles in Review of International Political Economy, International Studies Quarterly, Business & Politics, European Journal of International Relations and Global Society. He has taught courses in international politics, international political economy, and U.S. foreign policy.
