Sophie (she/her) began at Fordham University as the Technical Director in 2025 and is the teaching instructor of Collaboration Lab I & II. Previously, she enjoyed multiple seasons as the Assistant Technical Director of Stage Operations at The Glimmerglass Festival, working on a five-show repertory opera season. Sophie served as the Assistant Technical Director at Cortland Repertory Theatre, and has held scenic carpentry positions at Theatre Aspen and Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Sophie Rodriguez graduated with her Master of Fine Arts in Technical Direction from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, and with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Otterbein University. While in graduate school, she functioned as Carnegie Scenic's Project Manager, and she was the Teaching Assistant for Structural Design for the Stage I and II. Sophie was awarded the Oren and Teschie Parker Award in Drama for Excellence by Carnegie Mellon in 2024.

Sophie works closely with the Assistant Scene Shop Supervisor, together they strive to create a learning environment in the Scene Shop that encourages students to step out of their comfort zone to gain practical fabrication skills. The Fordham Scene Shop constructs all Mainstage Productions with students as part of their practical training and professional development.
