Visual Arts Grants and Awards

Grants

We offer the following grants to Visual Arts Majors and Minors. Please read the descriptions for eligibility. Applications are reviewed by the entire Visual Arts faculty. Contact the Visual Arts Program Head or other faculty for application deadlines, help with compiling your portfolio, submitting your itinerary, budget, and other required information.

Susan Lipani Travel Grant

Provides up to two outstanding Sophomore or Junior Visual Arts Majors with grants of $1,500 each, for independent travel during the summer or winter breaks. ELIGIBILITY: Sophomore and Junior Visual Arts majors studying Art & Engagement, Built Environment (Architecture), Graphic Design, Painting & Drawing, and/or Film/Video. Applications are due in April.

William F. Di Pietra Film/Video Production Grant

This grant is for any Visual Arts Major or Minor who has a film project in mind, regardless of their area of study. Up to three grants of $1,000 each will be given to outstanding Visual arts majors or minors to work on a film. Funds can be used to rent equipment, hire actors, pay for craft services, or defray any expenses to the making of their film. ELIGIBILITY: Any Visual Arts Major or Minor. Applications are due in April.

Ildiko Butler Travel Award for Excellence in Photography

Up to three grants of a maximum amount of $3,000 each will be given to photographers of promise to make work independently during the winter, spring, or summer breaks. ELIGIBILITY: Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Visual Arts majors in Photography. Applications are due in December.


Commencement Honors

We offer awards to seniors who demonstrate outstanding artistic achievement and community involvement.

The Lipani Visual Arts Award

Presented in honor of Susan Lipani (Fordham ‘97), this award is given to as many as three seniors who have been generous with their peers and fostered a sense of community in the Visual Arts Program.

The Storey Award

A portfolio award in honor of James Storey is offered to a senior whose work has shown evidence of exemplary artistic talent and potential.

Departmental Honors

Departmental honors are awarded to graduating Visual Art majors who have maintained an exceptionally high GPA and whose portfolio work has shown exemplary talent.
