Internal Transfer

Policies and Procedures

  • Acceptance of courses toward the requirements of the new college/major are contingent upon the approval of the Transfer Dean and the department chairperson of the new college.

All previously graded Fordham coursework remains calculated into the student's GPA and earned credits.

Once an internal transfer has been approved, the student is a student of the new college. All remaining core and major courses must meet the requirements of the new college.

The recommended internal transfer application deadline for the spring semester is December 15th.

The recommended deadline for the fall semester is May 15.

If internally transferring to or from Fordham School of Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS), be advised that tuition is billed differently than at FCRH, FCLC, and GABELLI. Students should contact 718-817-3800 with tuition questions.

  • First, you should schedule a meeting with your current Class Dean to discuss a possible transfer. Upon approval, you and your Class Dean will sign an internal transfer application.

Next, you should schedule an appointment with the Transfer Dean of the college into which you wish to transfer. Bring along the signed internal transfer application to this meeting.

If you are seeking transfer admission to the Gabelli School of Business, the process is slightly different:

    1. You must first attend a required internal transfer information session, hosted by Dean Steven Najdzionek, MBA ([email protected]). For the fall 2019 semester, these sessions will be held as follows. No sign up is needed.
      • Friday, August 30, at 3 p.m., in Hughes Hall, Room 313
      • Wednesdays from 3 - 4 p.m. in Hughes Hall, Room 313 on the following dates: October 9, October 16, October 23, October 30, November 6, November 13, November 20, December 4
    2. After you attend an information session, complete and sign an internal transfer application (also available at the session).
    3. Then, if you decide to apply to transfer to the Gabelli School, email your Class Dean to schedule a meeting to discuss your transfer plans. Bring your completed and signed internal transfer application to this meeting.
    4. Finally, submit your completed application, signed by you and your Class Dean, to Dean Najdzionek.
