Welcome from Dean Rodgers
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Fordham University and congratulate you on your acceptance. All of us in Rose Hill’s Student Life are looking forward to seeing you at the Summer Orientation Programs, at our three-day orientation program in August, and at all the other events we have planned for the semester.
Here at Fordham, the dean of students is mainly concerned with the education our students receive outside the classroom—an area broadly called student life. As Fordham is a university, the intellectual life is the core of our enterprise. Student life works with other areas to support this central goal of academic achievement but to assure our students are also learning from the classroom of experience- on and off the campus.
This education begins with the high expectations of your new community. The next four years are a training for the rest of life, signaling to the world what kind of life you will lead after you leave Fordham with our diploma in hand. That diploma is the University’s word that you have lived and will continue to live to a high standard of personal conduct—a standard worthy of a Fordham graduate and the many who have come before you through this unique Jesuit Catholic education.
All of us in Student Life look forward to sharing what this all means over the next four years. We hope you will not only be a beneficiary of this education but an educator and leader for those students who follow in your footsteps.
Once again, welcome to our community. We all look forward to seeing you and your parents in the coming months.
Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students
