2027 Competition

The Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Moot Court Competition is one of the premier moot court competitions focused on securities law. The competition is held in honor of Judge Kaufman, a Fordham alumnus who served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit for many years, including seven years as Chief Judge. Now in its 52nd year, the Competition offers teams the opportunity to test appellate advocacy skills before leading jurists, securities regulators, academics, and practitioners. In years past, the Kaufman Competition has attracted distinguished final round panelists, including Justice Samuel Alito, Justice Antonin Scalia, Justice Byron White, circuit judges, distinguished practitioners, and commissioners of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

• Problem release date: January 5, 2027
• Brief submission date: February 6, 2027
• Entry fee: $900
• Team size: 2 or 3 competitors per team
