Instructions for AIM for Students

  • 1Select Class(es) - Choose which of your courses you'd like accommodations for.

    2Click "Continue to Customize Your Accommodations", on the next page, you will see the courses you selected with your approved accommodations listed below each course.

    3. Select the accommodations you'd like to utilize for each course.

    4. Click "Submit Your Accommodation Requests", you should then be brought to a screen that says "The system has successfully processed your request".
    Your request will be reviewed and approved in approximately....(same as what's there now)

    Special notes: If you do not see your courses listed, check your student ID number in AIM. Chances are you didn't provide it or it's incorrect. Once you correct it, your courses

    1. Find the Box that says “Printing Faculty Notification Letter in PDF” [at the top of the Overview page]
    2. Select a course from the “Select Class” drop-down menu
    3. Click “Generate PDF”
    4. If your computer asks if you want to open the PDF file, select yes
    5. Once you have an open PDF file, select "print" to print the letter
    6. Repeat for each of your classes
    7. Bring these Faculty Notification Letters to your professors during their office hours or at another pre-arranged time
    8. In order to receive accommodations, you must discuss them with your professor
    1. Go to your Overview page and scroll down to your list of classes/accommodations
    2. Find the class you wish to modify
    3. Click the blue “Modify Request” option on the right hand side of the gray bar
    4. Select/de-select the boxes of the accommodations you want for this course
    5. Click “Update Request”
    6. Your request will be reviewed and approved in approximately 24 hours (longer if submitted over a weekend or holiday)
    1. Go to your Overview page and scroll down to your list of classes/accommodations
    2. Find the class you wish to cancel
    3. Click the red “Cancel Request” option on the right hand side of the gray bar
    4. Your request will be reviewed and approved in approximately 24 hours (longer if submitted over a weekend or holiday)
    1. Look in your left hand side tool bar under “My Accommodations” to find “Alternative Testing”
    2. Click “Alternative Testing”
    3. In the select class drop down menu, select the class for which you would like to schedule an exam
    4. Click “Schedule and Exam”
    5. Complete the “Exam Detail” form with the details of your request
    6. Select the time you wish to take the exam, not the time for which the exam is scheduled (if the two are different)
      • Do not use the “exam length (specified by student)” box, unless the professor has indicated that this exam is of a different length than he/she indicated on his/her testing contract
      • Select the boxes for the accommodations you will need for this exam
      • This form will only allow exams scheduled between 9am-5pm, though our offices do have extended hours on some days.  If you wish to take an exam that will extend beyond these hours, please speak with a staff member before scheduling
    7. Click “Add Exam Request”
      • If you are entering your request fewer than 5 business days before the exam, you will see a “Late Exam Notice” and be asked to enter a “Late Exam Request
      • You must select a reason.
      • Check the box that you have read and understand the late exam request policy.
    8. Click “Submit Late Exam Request”
      • If you do not follow these late exam steps after the regular “Add Exam Request,” your exam request will not be submitted
    9. Your request will be reviewed and approved, or a rescheduling option sent, in approximately 24 hours (longer if submitted over a weekend or holiday)
    10. Exams can be submitted as far in advance as you would like.  Final exams will not be approved until we make the final exam schedule during the last week of the semester.
    1. Look in your left hand side tool bar under “My Accommodations” to find “Alternative Testing”
    2. Click “Alternative Testing”
    3. Find the exam you wish to modify under “Upcoming Exams Request(s) for the Current Term”
    4. Click the blue “Modify Request” option on the right hand side
    5. This takes you to the “Exam Detail” form, where you can change any or all of the original options
    6. Click “Update Exam Request”
    7. Your request will be reviewed and approved, or a rescheduling option sent, in approximately 24 hours (longer if submitted over a weekend or holiday)

    2. Click “Alternative Testing”
