About the pre-health program

At Fordham, we offer an extensive program in pre-health professions for students in any major considering medical school or a health-related career. With personalized one-on-one advising and a tight-knit community of peers, you'll get the guidance and support you need to thrive in a range of careers in medicine and beyond.

Here, you’ll have access to all that Fordham’s New York has to offer, from hands-on internships with our industry partners to research opportunities alongside faculty experts. Dive into clinical volunteer work across the city and test prep sessions on campus. And use your knowledge to make an impact, from finding new ways to prevent diseases to expanding access to healthcare.

Pre-Health Professions Program FAQs

  • Common majors paired with the pre-health program include biological sciences, integrative neuroscience, psychology, and natural science. However, the program is open to students in any major looking to pursue a career in healthcare. Your program advisor will help you plan your courses according to the health profession you’re interested in.

  • Fordham’s location in New York City will provide you with unparalleled access to internships, research collaborations, and career opportunities through our connections with industry leaders, hospitals, and research institutes like Regeneron, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

    Plus, you can connect with alumni through the Fordham Mentoring Program to receive one-on-one guidance and advice for your medical career.

  • You’ll be prepared for advanced study and careers in medicine, physician assistance, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other areas of science and public health.

  • At Fordham, you’ll use AI as a tool to enhance your learning. Our program will equip you with the skills to navigate the ever-changing landscape of AI in the workforce. As a part of the pre-health program, you’ll be able to use AI to advance your own research, particularly in areas like drug discovery, brain mapping, and early detection for cancers and diseases. 

    You’ll also be able to earn credentials and paid micro-internships through IBM SkillsBuild’s Getting Started with AI course. All Fordham students and graduates have access to AI training through RamConnect, the University’s alumni and experiential learning platform.

    Above all, you’ll learn skills that can’t be replaced by AI, such as critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and integrity.
