Student Veterans of America

Student Veterans of America at Fordham (SVAF) is a structured and professionally driven organization dedicated to supporting military-connected students as they transition, develop, and succeed in both academic and professional environments.
SVAF serves as a central hub for community-building, leadership development, and career readiness, offering consistent programming, peer-to-peer engagement, and opportunities to take on meaningful roles within the organization.
Through coordinated events, cross-campus initiatives, and a strong partnership with the Office of Military and Veterans’ Services, SVAF fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service. Our mission is not only to build community, but to prepare our members for long-term success beyond Fordham—academically, professionally, and personally.
Meet the Student Veterans of America at Fordham team.
Military-Connected Student at Fordham
Fordham University is committed to the success of its military-connected students—veterans, active-duty service members, and dependents alike. By participating fully in the Yellow Ribbon Program, eligible students using the Post-9/11 GI Bill receive up to 100% tuition coverage, significantly reducing the financial burden of a Fordham education.
Fordham has also placed a renewed emphasis on expanding and better supporting its military-connected population. This includes a focused effort to bring more military-connected students to campus and the continued development of programming tailored to their needs—academically, professionally, and socially. The goal is not just access, but integration and long-term success.
Beyond financial support, military-connected students are part of a structured and engaged community. Through the Office of Military and Veterans’ Services and the Student Veterans of America at Fordham, students have access to consistent programming designed to support both transition and long-term outcomes.
Opportunities include campus traditions such as football tailgates and social events, as well as professional development initiatives like internships and employment fairs, résumé and interview workshops, and networking opportunities. Students can also participate in community-focused experiences, including volunteer initiatives, cultural outings, and group events across New York City.
At Fordham, the military-connected experience is intentional—built around access, engagement, and preparation for life beyond the university.
