Academic AI Coordinating Committee

The Committee's charge is three-fold: to identify and compile AI-related endeavors among the faculty; to shape the tools and resources that will support faculty in those endeavors; and to make recommendations on the role and scope of an AI Innovation Collaborative, a University resource to assist faculty in their potential adoption of AI applications in academic programs, research endeavors, or administrative processes.

Updates:

  • During the 6-week period from April 8 to May 20, 2026, members of the Academic AI Coordinating Committee conducted a series of interactions - one-on-one interviews, focus group sessions, listening sessions - with faculty from across the university. We held 18 interactions, engaging with approximately 75 participants from Arts & Sciences, Gabelli, Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Social Service, and the School of Law. During the summer, a subset of committee members has transcribed, anonymized, and analyzed session transcripts to generate themes and insights. The Committee plans to share the findings from the exercise with faculty in order to facilitate collaborative dialogue about how best the AI Innovation Collaborative might support faculty in their academic work.
