Welcome To Fordham!

International Students

Join us for our spring virtual events

Coronavirus/COVID-19 Update
We understand that the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak will impact your college decision. Our conversations with you, your families, and school communities continue to be very important to informing the ways in which we can be most responsive to these unexpected and evolving changes. We have provided answers (at the bottom of this page) to many questions we have received at this time, and we will continue to communicate any updates as new information arises. As our own daily operations have been severely altered in New York City, we are ready to be as flexible as possible in providing a safe and successful transition to university life.

Please know that there are many dedicated, caring professionals across the university who are here to help. On behalf of all of them, we look forward to welcoming you to the Class of 2024.

Final Transcripts

What are the requirements for submitting final secondary education transcripts/results?

All incoming first-year students are required to present a final official high school transcript with the date of graduation or equivalent national leaving/matriculation examination results granting eligibility for university level study.

We recommend submitting your final results by July 15. If your examination results are postponed or transcripts are delayed, these documents can be received up to the start of classes on August 26.

Final transcripts must be submitted directly by your school counselor or other official. The most effective means of submission is electronic upload via the Common Application.

My final semester(s) courses will be graded Pass/Fail. Will this impact my admission decision when reviewing my final transcript?

These changes will not impact our offer of admission, as long as you still meet the requirements for secondary education completion.

Testing Changes

My IB / A Level / other external exams have been cancelled and I will now receive calculated marks as final grades. How will this impact my admission and enrollment?

Results for students scheduled to complete externally evaluated exams which have been cancelled (IB, A Level, etc.) but who will still receive a calculated mark based on other assessments will satisfy all enrollment requirements.

The admission committee recognizes that final results may be significantly different from previously submitted predicted results due to changes to the evaluation criteria.

These changes will not impact our offer of admission, as long as you still meet the requirements for secondary education completion.

My national leaving/matriculation examinations are cancelled and no marks will be issued. How will this impact my admission and enrollment?

If no final examination marks are available, final secondary school transcripts will be accepted as proof of secondary education completion and eligibility for university level study.

Submission of a final transcript in place of examination results will not impact our offer of admission, as long as you still meet the requirements for secondary education completion.

Final transcripts must be submitted directly by your school counselor or other official. The most effective means of submission is electronic upload via the Common Application.

Transfer Credit

If my university-level exams are cancelled or offered online but I will still receive a final grade (IB, AP, etc.), will I be eligible to receive transfer credit?

IB, AP or other examinations which award a final grade will still be considered for transfer credit toward a Fordham degree.

Official exam results must be submitted for transfer credit evaluation.

Submitting Your Deposit

What is the deadline to submit my deposit and confirm a spot in the Class of 2024?

The candidate reply date has been extended to June 1.

I hoped to visit campus before making my final decision. Is that possible?

All on-campus visitation has been suspended through June 15. We encourage you to take a virtual tour of our Fordham campuses.

Arrival On Campus/Deferring Admission

Has the Fall 2020 semester schedule changed?

We expect to begin the fall semester schedule as planned. Global Transition begins with move-in day on Tuesday, August 18. The first day of classes is Wednesday, August 26.

Can I defer my admission if I am unable to arrive on campus by the scheduled move-in day?

If your plans to attend Fordham in the Fall 2020 semester are disrupted by delayed visa issuance or are otherwise impacted by COVID-19, you can defer your admission to Fordham for one or two semesters (to Spring 2021, beginning in January or Fall 2021, beginning in August). Please first review the guidelines for deferring admission to Fordham.

If any alternate options for delayed enrollment are added, updates will be included on this site.

Care & Safety Of Our Community

How is Fordham currently managing the care of its campuses and community?

We are very conscious of the fact that our students, faculty, and staff, study, live, work, and play in New York City. Fordham University will not resume face-to-face instruction, nor on-campus work for faculty and staff, unless we believe it is safe for the University community to do so. New York state has been very aggressive in its response to the virus outbreak, taking multiple actions to blunt the effect of the disease and manage its effect on our citizens. Fordham will likewise do all it can to protect our community, including aggressive monitoring by University Health Services staff and close cooperation with city, state, and federal health authorities.
