Microsoft Office 365 Banner

Overview

All active Fordham students and employees are eligible to receive a free full version of Microsoft Office 365, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office apps. 

Connect

To initiate access or to login, go to fordham.edu > My Apps > Applications > Microsoft Office 365. To sign up, follow the prompts. 

For installs on mobile devices, follow the links for Apple devices and Android devices.

Do not download Microsoft Office resources to any University-owned device.

  • Access Microsoft Office 365 to download or use online

    Log in to fordham.edu > My Apps > Applications > Microsoft Office 365. Follow the prompts.  

    If you are planning to download Office and your Windows device has an existing installation of Office that was not acquired from Fordham, you may need to uninstall the program before downloading a new version. Find out if you need to do so by calling the IT Service Desk

    Do not download MS Office to a University-issued computer.

  • Access (Windows only) Tables, queries, forms, reports and more enable you to build databases and web apps. MS support for Access.

    Excel (Mac and Windows) Create spreadsheets and workbooks. MS support for Excel.

    OneDrive (available with Microsoft Office Online) Free online storage. Sync, share, and save your Office files and access them across all your devices. MS support for OneDrive. If you use OneDrive to save Fordham data, please consult the data classification guidelines and Fordham University’s  Data Classification Policy. The policy applies to all data produced, collected, stored, or used by University employees, student workers, consultants and agents during their relationship with the University.

    OneNote (Mac and Windows, requires OneDrive, which can be accessed via Microsoft Office Online) Create notebooks online and access them from any device. Use OneDrive to take notes, create to-do lists, and collaborate. MS support for OneNote.

    Outlook (Mac and Windows) A personal information manager for email (Visit fordham.edu/email for instructions on how to configure Outlook with Fordham Gmail. ), tasks, contacts. Outlook also includes a calendar and a place for note-taking. MS support for Outlook.

    PowerPoint (Mac and Windows) Create presentations and slide shows. MS support for PowerPoint.

    Publisher (Mac and Windows) Essential tools for entry-level desktop publishing. MS support for Publisher.

    Skype (Windows only) Participate in video and web conferencing, and IM chats. MS support for Skype.

    Teams is a collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage (including collaboration on files), and application integration. MS Support for Teams

    Word (Mac and Windows) Create text-based documents. Graphics, tables, shapes, and other desktop publishing features included. MS support for Word.

    Windows OS: 1.6 GHz or faster, 2-core
    macOS: Intel processor

    Memory
    Windows OS: 4 GB RAM; 2 GB RAM (32-bit)
    macOS: 4 GB RAM

    Hard disk
    Windows OS: 4 GB of available disk space
    macOS: 10 GB of available disk space; HFS+ hard disk format (also known as Mac OS Extended) or APFS Updates may require additional storage over time.

    Display
    Windows OS: 1280 x 768 screen resolution (32-bit requires hardware acceleration for 4K and higher)
    macOS: 1280 x 800 screen resolution

    Graphics
    Windows OS: Graphics hardware acceleration requires DirectX 9 or later, with WDDM 2.0 or higher for Windows 10 (or WDDM 1.3 or higher for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update).
    macOS: No graphics requirements.

    Operating system
    Windows OS: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016
    macOS: One of the three most recent versions of macOS. When a new major version of macOS is released, the macOS and the previous two versions.

    For the best experience, use the most current build of any operating system specified above. Product functionality and feature availability may vary on older systems (Search Microsoft Lifecycle Policy).

    Browser
    The current version of Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. 
    .NET version
    Windows OS: some features may require .NET 3.5 or 4.6 and higher to also be installed.

    Other Internet functionality requires an internet connection. Fees may apply.

    A touch-enabled device is required to use any multitouch functionality, but all features and functionality are always available by using a keyboard, mouse, or other standard or accessible input device. Note that touch features are optimized for use with Windows 10 or Windows 8.1.

    Product functionality and graphics may vary based on your system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

    A Microsoft or organizational account is required for licensing and access to services.

    Skype requires a standard laptop camera or USB 2.0 video camera, a microphone, and an audio output device in order to utilize its full range of calling features.
