Neurodiversity Program (MINDS)

Mentoring and Inspiring NeuroDivergent Students

ASD COHORT

College is about more than just classes; it’s about finding your people. The MINDS Program at Fordham is designed for neurodivergent students who want to build a strong social community while sharpening the professional and academic skills needed for life after graduation.

Why Join MINDS?

We provide a supportive "home base" where you can grow alongside peers who understand your journey. Our program focuses on three core pillars:

  • Built-in Community: Transitioning to college is easier when you have a dedicated small group. Through monthly lunches and group outings, you’ll build lasting friendships in a low-pressure environment.
  • Social and Career Readiness: Beyond the classroom, we help you master the "soft skills" that matter—from self-advocacy and professional communication to managing a busy social calendar. There will be weekly group meetings that focus on a new skill each week.
  • Personalized Academic Coaching: Stay on top of your goals with weekly 1-on-1 sessions focused on organization, time management, and breaking down complex assignments.
  • Personalized Social Coaching: Work on your social skills through weekly 1-on-1 sessions focused on building relationships, handling conflicts, and navigating college life.

Life in MINDS: Beyond the Classroom

We believe the best connections happen outside the library. This past year, our members didn't just study together—they built a community through shared experiences.

  • Monthly  Lunch Dates: Every month, the group meets for lunch at the campus dining hall to catch up and decompress.
  • Game Day Vibes: Cheering on the Rams at home football and basketball games.
  • The Best of NYC: From the lights of a Broadway musical to trips to the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Garden, and Arthur Avenue, we take full advantage of our incredible backyard.
