A hybrid, or “low residency” program, which combines online learning with in-person instruction. If the program combines any amount of in-person instruction with virtual learning, it is considered hybrid. If, for example, a class has twelve online sessions and one in-person class, that class, and therefore the program, is considered hybrid.

- If a student takes in-person classes, the student receives the Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) tied to the school's zip code.
- If a student takes fully online classes (meaning they never meet in person), the student receives the online rate of instruction.
- If a student takes classes that mix online and in-person instruction, the student receives the in-person rate, tied to the zip code of the school
- At least one of the courses needs to meet in person at least once per semester. This format has to be offered to ALL students (not just veterans), and the course(s) have to apply toward the student's degree requirement.
