Non-Matric/Visiting Students

Take a Course (or Two) With Us!

Those who are not ready, or wanting to begin a degree at this time or who are only wanting to take a course as a visiting student are welcomed to take a course with us as a non-matriculated or visiting student. Meaning, you will not go through a formal admissions process or review. This option is ideal for students who...

  • wish to strengthen their candidacy for admission.
  • want simply to explore an area of study for personal enrichment or employment opportunities.
  • wish to build academic confidence before matriculating into a degree or certificate program.
  • wish simply to begin coursework as soon as possible.

How to Apply

To apply to take courses as a non-matriculant or visiting student, please complete an online application.

Step-by-Step Guide

Applying to enroll at the GRE as either a non-matriculated or visiting student is easy!

Here is what's required:

  • Complete the online application (only the Academic Interest, Personal, Colleges and Universities, Employment History, Signature, and Review sections need to be completed)
  • Submit the application
  • Email  - we will not know to process and waive unneeded items unless you alert us that your application has been submitted.
  • Attach your transcripts - provide an official transcript showing you have earned a BA/BS degree.

There is no application fee.

Do you need to submit them?


Because you are seeking enrollment to take a course for graduate credit at the GRE, we require that you provide transcripts showing that you have earned (at min.) BA/BS degree.

To submit your transcript, you may...

  • Upload a scanned copy of your transcript
  • Mail a copy of your transcript to our office
  • Email a copy of your transcript to our office
  • Or, request that your former university mail your transcript to us (if you think you might apply to be a matriculated student at the GRE in the future, choose to send in an official copy. We will keep it on file and transfer it to your degree seeking application).

Audit an On-Campus Course  

If you are not ready to take a course for credit, but would like to learn more about religious education, spirituality, pastoral counseling, ministry, etc., audit an on-campus course!

Fee to Audit: $902.00 per course

Please note: Online and other designated courses are not open to audit and courses registered for audit cannot be changed as counting for credits after the course begins.
