Electronic ID

For Students, Faculty, Staff

Overview

Your Fordham ID is one of your most important assets. You can only have one ID: Either the Electronic ID or a plastic physical ID card. If you opt in, it will deactivate your physical ID card. To use the eID, Bluetooth must be enabled on your device. Androids need to have both Bluetooth and location services enabled.

Features

  • It’s stored on your mobile device. No more lost or forgotten ID cards!
  • Use it with Bluetooth (Androids also need location services enabled); an Internet connection is optional
  • Instant access to campus, your residence hall, libraries, and buildings
  • Use it to check out materials at the library
  • Use it with meal plans
  • It’s more sanitary than a plastic ID
  • Opt in to the eID using the University app, Fordham Mobile Go

Ready to opt in?

  1. Upload your photo via the Portal at fordham.edu
    • Go to the New Student Tab > Photo ID Services
  2. Download and install the app on your mobile device
    • Go to your app store and look for Fordham Mobile Go
  3. Opt-in to Electronic ID in one of two ways:
    • From the Portal, select My Apps tab > Electronic ID Opt-In/Opt-Out
    • OR From the mobile app, select Electronic ID from the home screen & follow prompts
  4. Enter the 16-character activation code.
    • The code will display on the screen after you opt-in. Additionally, you will receive an email with the code, sent from "HIDOrigo." The subject will say "Fordham University Electronic ID Invitation."
    • Select and copy the invitation code, and then open your Fordham Mobile Go app.
    • In the mobile app home screen, select "eID Campus Access."
    • Click on the blue bar, "Add an ID."
    • Enter or paste the 16 character activation code and click "Add."

These steps will complete the process and your mobile credential should start working within 20 minutes. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device (Androids need location services and Bluetooth).

Your physical ID card will be deactivated. Please shred your old ID card. If you wish to return to using a physical ID card, visit your campus ID card center to request a new one. You are responsible for any plastic card replacement costs.
