Fordham ID
For Students, Faculty, Staff
Overview
Your Fordham ID functions as your official University identification, but it is more than just an identification card – it’s an essential part of campus life at Fordham University. Your ID is used for:
- Building Access to residence halls, offices, fitness centers, certain computer labs, Fordham libraries, and other secured areas on campus.
- Ram Print services around campus.
- Your meal plan and DCB (Declining Balance) at campus dining locations.
- Student discounts at NYC museums, theaters, and some local shops. Contact the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development for more info.
We currently offer three types of Fordham ID options, but are moving towards an Electronic ID first model:
- Electronic ID (eID) card: Accessible via the Fordham app on your mobile device. This will be the primary ID for all incoming students.
- Fordham ID in Wallet: By simply placing your mobile device near the reader, you can use your Fordham ID more securely, safely, and conveniently from your mobile wallet.
- Physical ID card: Hard plastic ID card. Current students, faculty, and staff who opted for a physical card can continue to use it.
-
Important Update: Ongoing Transition to an eID-First Campus
Fordham University is continuing its move towards a more convenient, secure, and sustainable campus experience! Following the successful launch last year, Fordham is now in Year 2 of its transition to an electronic ID (eID) first campus.
What this means for you:
-
Incoming First-Year and Transfer Students: You will default to using an electronic ID accessible directly on your mobile device.
-
Returning and Current students: If you entered Fordham prior to Fall 2025, you may continue to use your existing physical card or your electronic ID.

Physical ID Cards

If you do not have a compatible device or have a specific accessibility need and require a physical ID card, please fill out the exemption form. Your request will be reviewed, and if approved you will be issued a physical ID Card.
- Hold your physical ID card near a scanner for a few seconds to use it.
- If you currently have a physical ID card, you can still continue to use it around campus.
- Keep it with you at all times & guard your card as you would any important document. Do not lend your card to anyone for any reason.
- Card replacement: If you lose your physical ID card, the cost to replace it is $30. Visit a Physical ID Service Center to replace your card (see below).
