Overview
Set up and install Ivanti Secure Access (formerly Pulse Secure), which enables you to connect and disconnect to Fordham University's virtual private network (VPN). Use the Ivanti Secure Access Client to add a connection to the systems and software you need to access.
Get Connected
First-time users: Download the Ivanti Secure Access Client and configure your VPN connection. Ivanti Secure Access can be used on all your devices, but only one may connect simultaneously. Your device must have an antivirus installed (and a firewall enabled on Windows computers) to access the VPN. The Office of Information Technology provides antivirus protection to University-issued devices.

- For the server URL indicated in the video, enter either https://vpn.fordham.edu OR https://vpn.fordham.edu/plus OR your specific department.
- Consult Fordham's VPN Connections list for access to systems and applications assigned to you.
Download and Install the Ivanti Secure Access Client on a Mac
- Retrieve the Mac Installer
- Click on the download button. Browsers may differ in the way they download the installer:
- Safari: If prompted: Select Allow download > Select show downloads arrow on the upper right corner > Click on the downloaded file, ps-pulse-mac-22.7r1.0-b28369-installer
- Google Chrome: Double click on the downloaded button on the lower left-hand corner > Click on the downloaded file, ps-pulse-mac-22.7r1.0-b28369-installer
- In the window that appears, double-click the PulseSecure.pkg installer to begin the installation
- When the Install Ivanti Secure Access dialog box appears, click Continue
- Leave the defaults and click Install to continue
- If you see "Installer is trying to install new software," enter your Mac password to allow the installer to run
- If other messages appear that block the installation, click Allow so the installation can be completed
- Once all screens have been completed, Ivanti Secure Access is installed.
- A new menu bar icon for the Ivanti Secure Access Client appears in the upper right-hand of the screen to show it is running
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
After installing the Ivanti Secure Access Client, follow the steps below to open and add connections.
Configure the Ivanti Secure Access Client
- Open Finder, click on Applications, and search for Ivanti Secure Access
- Double-click on the Ivanti Secure Access icon to open the application
- In the pop-up window, select the + in the bottom left-hand corner to add a connection
- Keep the default "Type" settings Policy Secure (UAC) or Connect Secure (VPN)
- Name the connection, i.e., Fordham VPN Plus
- Add the server URL, i.e., https://vpn.fordham.edu/plus
- Click the Add button to return to the Connections area
- Repeat step 4 to add additional VPN connections if needed
Connect and Disconnect to the VPN
- Click on the Ivanti Secure Access Client menu icon at the top right corner of your screen
- Hover over the connection desired and select Connect.
- To disconnect, repeat steps 1 and 2, but choose the connection and select Disconnect.
- You will need to reconnect every time the computer is restarted.
