Antivirus Protection
For Students, Faculty, Staff, Guests, Alumni
Antivirus protection is essential to protect your computer from virus and malware infections. Fordham uses Crowdstrike Falcon on all Fordham owned and managed devices for enhanced endpoint protection.
Faculty and staff who use the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) should NOT download any antivirus software to their device. Antivirus software and automatic security updates are applied to VDI on a regular basis.
For personal devices, we recommend the following free antivirus applications:
-
Microsoft Defender, which already comes with Windows
-
Mac OS X: Bitdefender Virus Scanner, AVG, Avast
Educate Yourself About Security Awareness
In addition to installing antivirus software, good cyber hygiene is key for protecting your devices from cyber attacks and viruses. Educate yourself by taking our free, self-paced online information security awareness training for employees, Information Security Awareness. To access the course, go to fordham.edu, select 'Log in to the Portal' at the top, and authenticate with your Fordham credentials. Go to My Apps and select Terranova - Security Awareness in the For Employees section.
