Scholarships

The Peter and Kitty Quinn Scholarship
Eligibility:
Full time Junior or Senior that has declared major in English Literature  attending Fordham College at Rose Hill or Fordham College at Lincoln Center.  Must demonstrate financial need and  demonstrates academic merit (minimum 3.0 grade point average).
Guidelines: The Application should consist of: A two page narrative explaining why the candidate chose to major in English, filed with the English Department; a brief statement of financial need, also filed with the English Department; A letter from an English Department faculty member nominating the candidate; A FAFSA form, filed with Financial Aid (NOT with the Department).

Awards

The Margaret Amassian Award
Eligibility:
Any graduating English major who has achieved the highest grade point average in the course of his or her college career.
Guidelines: This Award is made possible by the generosity of Dr. Amassian's family, friends and former students, honors the memory of a beloved member of the English faculty.  It is given to the graduating English major who has achieved the highest grade point average in the course of his or her college career.
Prize: $1,000

Eligibility: Any Fordham student
1 prize of $100

Bernice Kilduff White & John J. White Creative Writing Prize
Eligibility: Rose Hill senior undergraduate students
1 prize Cash Amount to be determined.

Margaret Lamb/Writing to the Right-Hand Margin Prizes
Eligibility: Any Fordham student
1 prize of $100

The Reid Family Prize
Eligibility: Any Fordham student
1 prize of $500

Bernice Kilduff White and John J. White Prize
Eligibility: Rose Hill Seniors
Given for excellence in the Study of English Literature, for which any senior may submit an essay of about 5000 words.

English Alumni Prize
Eligibility: Rose Hill Seniors
Submit a term paper of about 5000 words. There is no restriction of subject matter.

Charles J. Donahue Prize
Eligibility: Rose Hill Seniors or Graduate Students
Submit a term paper or other substantial piece of work.  The areas are usually Old and Middle English and Modern British literature, but work in other areas may also be considered.
