Add Contacts to Gmail
For Students, Faculty, Staff, Guests, Alumni
Overview
Adding key Fordham email addresses to your Google Contacts helps ensure that critical university communications (like emergency notifications, messages from the President’s Office, and Public Safety alerts) are delivered to your inbox rather than filtered into your Spam folder.
Important Fordham email addresses to save
Add the following addresses to your Google Contacts to ensure you receive critical university communications:
- Office of the President: [email protected]
- President’s Office (CRM): [email protected]
- Fordham Public Safety: [email protected]
Unmark a Message as Spam
Even after adding Fordham addresses to your contacts, occasionally a message may still be filtered into your Spam folder. If this happens:
- Open Gmail and navigate to the Spam folder in the left sidebar.
- Locate the message and open it.
- Click “Not spam” at the top of the message. Gmail will move it to your inbox and learn not to filter similar messages in the future.
Refer to Google's help page to unmark an email as Spam on your computer, Android, or iPhone.
How to add Contacts
- Open Google Contacts: In your browser, navigate to Google Contacts: contacts.google.com/. Or you can access it via Gmail by clicking the Google Apps grid icon in the top-right corner, then selecting Contacts.
- Create a new contact: Click “Create contact” in the upper-left corner, then choose “Create a contact” for a single entry or “Create multiple contacts” to add several at once.
- Enter the contact details: Add the name, email address, and any other relevant information. For Fordham contacts, the email address is the most important field.
- Save: Click “Save.” The contact will now appear in your address book and will be recognized by Gmail when composing messages.
TIP: You can also add contacts directly from an email you’ve received. Open the message in Gmail, hover over the sender’s name or profile picture in the email header, and click “Add to contacts” when the card appears. This is the fastest way to save a sender you trust.
