Advanced Certificates

In addition to the International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance, the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs offers specialized diplomas and individual 3-month humanitarian training courses to humanitarian workers or those very interested in humanitarian work. 

International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance

The International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance (IDHA), the flagship program of the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs at Fordham University, is designed to equip mid-career professionals with essential knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complex landscape of humanitarian aid and to drive the humanitarian sector of the future in a more effective, sustainable, and dignified direction. Students will develop a holistic perspective on global humanitarian issues to propel them to the next level in their careers, helping them create positive social change both in and out of the field.

  • Non-Academic; No Accommodations: $3,250 includes coursework, diploma, weekday lunches, and coffee. Accommodations are the responsibility of the student. 
  • Accommodations: $7,064 - includes coursework, diploma, weekday meals, coffee, and accommodations. 

Fordham MS in Humanitarian Studies (MSHS) students are able to take the IDHA for 8 credits toward the degree. Please visit the MSHS page to learn more.

Humanitarian Training Courses 
Students can take each of our individual humanitarian training courses listed on this page for academic credit toward the MA in International Humanitarian Action (MIHA) degree or they can participate in the course without receiving academic credit for a discounted price. Advanced certificates are not available to take for 0 credits. Full advanced certificates are available for-credit only.

All advanced certificate courses can be taken individually for academic credit or not. Students must decide whether or not to take individual courses for academic credit before the start of the course and cannot receive academic credit retroactively.

All advanced certificate academic credits are accepted towards our online Master of Arts in International Humanitarian Action program and may be accepted by other academic institutions as well. Students seeking academic credit will be required to submit a capstone before graduation. 

IIHA certificate and diploma course fees have been discounted significantly from Fordham University's graduate education tuition model to accommodate the financial situations of our diverse and international student body. The Master of Arts in International Humanitarian Action (MIHA) is a 30 credit program instructed in three modules and charged at U.S. $650 per credit.
