Introduction to the Global Research Alliance of Jesuit Universities (GRAJU)
The Global Research Alliance of Jesuit Universities (GRAJU) was founded by seven institutions:
Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines)
Fordham University (USA)
Georgetown University (USA)
ITESO (Mexico)
Sogang University (South Korea)
University of Deusto (Spain)
University of Namur (Belgium)
Formally established on August 4, 2025, GRAJU is an international organization dedicated to fostering robust and sustainable research collaborations among Jesuit institutions of higher education worldwide. Rooted in the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, social justice, and global engagement, GRAJU seeks to build a unified research network that strengthens scholarly partnerships, promotes interdisciplinary innovation, and advances mission-driven inquiry.
Key Goals of GRAJU
- Facilitate Global Research Collaboration – Encourage joint research projects and scholarly exchange among Jesuit universities across the globe.
- Promote Interdisciplinary Research – Provide platforms for cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration, particularly on pressing global issues aligned with Jesuit values.
- Encourage Sponsored Research – Support efforts to secure external funding and pursue collaborative grant opportunities, including joint applications to domestic and international funding agencies.
- Uphold the Jesuit Mission and Vision – Advance the shared Jesuit commitment to education, service, ethics, and the greater good through meaningful research.
Annual GRAJU Symposium
A central activity of the Alliance will be the Annual GRAJU Symposium, hosted on a rotating basis by member institutions. These symposia will serve as flagship events to:
- Showcase collaborative research,
- Identify new partnership opportunities, and
- Set strategic priorities for the Alliance.
Participants will be strongly encouraged to contribute to the expected outcomes from these engagements, including:
- Joint conference presentations
- Collaborative academic publications
- Co-authored and co-directed grant proposals
Membership in GRAJU is open to all Jesuit universities worldwide, with no membership fee required. Institutions are warmly invited to join and actively contribute to shaping this global research community. Please submit your application form to express interest.
