It is highly recommended that you open a "checking account" upon your arrival in the US if your bank account abroad is not easily accessible. Below you can find maps to the major banks near our campuses. You don’t need a social security number to open a bank account. However, some banks may request a letter issued by our office to proof that you are an international student. If you need a bank letter, you can request our office to issue you one through our website or submitting a bank letter request form at the OIS office. You can go and open a bank account easily if you already have a social security number.
