Ralf Rivas is a lecturer and multimedia business journalist interested in how money and power shape everyday life.
His reporting has covered cronyism, economic policy, online gambling, and corporate finance across Southeast Asia. He also hosted a show featuring startup founders and business leaders.
Rivas worked with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists on the Pandora Papers, an investigation into nearly 12 million leaked financial records that showed how the world's elites hide wealth offshore. The Society of Publishers in Asia recognized his reporting on police abuse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally from the Philippines, Rivas has reported for Reuters, Bloomberg TV Philippines, and Rappler, the Manila newsroom founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa. Before joining Fordham, he taught data journalism and media ethics at the University of the Philippines.
In 2024, Rivas was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University, one of business journalism's most rigorous fellowships, where he took MBA-level courses at Columbia Business School.
