Calendar Submission Best Practices

We recommend going beyond the minimum requirements when listing your event to attract the most attendees. Read our best practices here.

Add a photo: Upload a photo to help illustrate your event and make it stand out from the crowd. If you do not upload a photo, a default photo will be assigned.

Fill out all the fields: Filling out the additional fields makes your event easily discoverable in a search.

Keep titles short: Limit event titles to under 50 characters (or roughly 10 words) so they do not get cut off in mobile or calendar grid views.

Avoid acronyms: Spell out organization names and terms completely to ensure clarity for external audiences.

Write concise summaries: Provide a brief 1-2 sentence overview (under 45 words) that explains what the event is about without repeating the title.

Proofread: Check all names, dates, times, and spelling before hitting submit. Review Fordham’s editorial guidelines for guidance on Fordham titles, locations, and other stylistic choices.

Link official pages: Direct users to an official website for full registration details instead of pasting endless copy.

Plan ahead: We require that events are submitted 5 days in advance, but recommend submitting your event as soon as you reserve a room and can fill out the required fields to maximize visibility. Calendar submissions can be edited to add additional information as needed.
