Fordham Internship Promise

Fordham Internship Promise

Through the Fordham Internship Promise, every undergraduate student will have the opportunity to land at least one internship, including research and other experiential learning, gaining real-world experience that top employers seek.

With New York City as a launchpad, students enjoy access to internships year-round. And many Rams enter the workforce with multiple internships on their resume.

  • Along with traditional internships across New York City, the US, and even abroad, our Internship Promise initiative also includes other experiential learning opportunities as well as research opportunities, so the possibilities are nearly endless. Our students intern at world-renowned organizations like JPMorgan Chase, Disney, Memorial Sloan Kettering, the Bronx Zoo, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. They also perform research in labs on campus alongside faculty and graduate students.

    You’ll have access to:

    • Handshake: A database with over 27,000 internship postings each year.
    • RamConnect: Fordham's online community for professional development where students can network with alumni, find mentors, and seek career advice, in addition to exploring experiential learning opportunities and building out their co-curricular transcript.
    • Serving the City: Exclusive, paid internships at local New York City nonprofits and cultural institutions specifically for liberal arts and sciences students.
  • There is no single timeline—every student’s path is different. While some industries (like investment banking) recruit very early, many other internships in fields like marketing, digital media, or political science can happen at any time. Because you are in NYC, you can even intern year-round, not just during the summer. Many students will graduate with more than one internship experience.

  • No. The Fordham Internship Promise is our commitment to providing you with the resources, support, and connections you need to land an internship, experiential learning, or research opportunity, but it is not a "placement" service. Think of it as a partnership: Fordham provides the "launchpad" through our New York City location and professional network, and you provide the initiative to apply and interview for the positions that interest you.

  • To take advantage of the Internship Promise, students must be in good academic standing and show an active interest in learning outside of the classroom. The most important "requirement" is your own engagement—working with your advisors, attending career fairs and other career-building events like site visits and coffee chats with employers, and keeping your resume up to date.

  • It starts on day one with your First-Year Advisor. They will help you begin the conversation about your interests and how they align with future careers. From there, you will work with the Career Center for Cura Personalis, where you can get one-on-one counseling, attend networking events with over 450 top employers, and start using tools like Handshake and RamConnect to find the right fit for you.
