Jazmin Nazario
Jazmin Nazario is a Fordham College at Lincoln Center senior, majoring in mathematics. She is also part of the five-year education track, in which she is working toward obtaining a master’s in teaching adolescence mathematics. Born and raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn, Jazmin is part of the University’s commuter community. Jazmin is a Hispanic Scholarship Fund scholar and has also been a part of Fordham’s Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) for three years; as part of the program, she was an AP Calculus and high school advising instructor for two years. She is also a Clare Boothe Luce scholar. Through this program, Jazmin has been given the opportunity to conduct research in various areas of mathematics. Her current research is centered around teacher learning styles and their effects on adolescent mathematical education. Outside of Fordham, Jazmin works as an academic adviser at Red Hook Initiative, a local nonprofit organization supporting middle school and high school students’ academic endeavors. She has also been working as a college mentor at the organization for two years; each year she is responsible for mentoring a first-year college student through their transition into their new academic environment. In her free time, Jazmin is interested in playing games, especially various card and board games, and enjoys drawing and creating art.
