Pioneering Woman, Regina Pitaro

Regina Pitaro, FCRH '76, is a managing director at GAMCO Investors, Inc., as well as an author. Her book on the business of merger arbitrage—Deals, Deals and More Deals—has been translated into several languages.

Previously in her career, Regina worked as an investment analyst and equity salesperson at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb, an archeologist for a division of the federal government in Atlanta, Georgia, and a teacher’s assistant at Loyola University of Chicago, where she had merited a full scholarship for her master’s degree in anthropology. She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Fordham University, and an M.B.A. in finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Regina was one of the earliest members of the board of Futures in Education, which gives tuition assistance to Catholic school children in Brooklyn and Queens. She has remained involved with the organization for several decades, helping families in need to secure a quality education for their children.

Regina is a trustee fellow of Fordham University, past board member of Greenwich Historical Society, and past member of the Investment Committee at Greenwich Academy.
