Biography: Kay Turner has an extensive background in human resources at higher education, nonprofit, and government institutions including, multistate operations in the tri-state area. She joins Fordham after serving for four years as Vice President of Human Resources at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where she acted as an adviser to the board of trustees and university president on executive compensation, secured three years of funding to advance technology within HR, and also launched a successful internal HR marketing campaign that led to a widely published cadre of HR services and solutions.

Prior to her role at NJIT, Turner was Vice President of Human Resources at JCCA, formerly known as the Jewish Child Care Association—a nonprofit providing child welfare and mental health services to underprivileged families and children. In her role, she supported and trained more than 800 full-time employees and 300 per-diem employees in its multiple New York locations. She also led a program restructuring saving in $1.2 million annually.

As Director of Employee Relations at the nationally recognized Hackensack University Medical Center, a 900-bed nonprofit, research, and teaching hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey, Turner helped secure $8 million in annual savings and ensured federal and state legislation compliance. Turner served as Director of Employee Relations and Diversity at the MTA Metro-North Railroad, the second largest commuter railroad in the country with 6,000 employees and 18 collective bargaining agreements.

She held a number of legal positions, including Attorney and Assessment Liaison for the New York City Board of Education; Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office; and Attorney and Mediator for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the City University of New York and a juris doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. Turner and her family reside in the Bronx.


Nancy Hark, Esq.

Biography: Nancy Hark has extensive knowledge of labor, employment, and human resources policies and practices, which can be attributed to a number of positions she held at several highly-esteemed law firms and academic settings.

Prior to joining Fordham, Nancy was Director of Labor and Employee Relations at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she proactively developed key human resources policies and practices, and served on the University’s negotiation team. Nancy maintained collegial and productive working relationships with eight employee unions – which represented approximately 80% of the University’s workforce, including tenured and tenure-track faculty.

She also closely collaborated with deans, chairs, vice presidents and other department administrators, offering sound human resources advice, particularly in areas of labor and employee relations and performance management. She served on multiple University committees, establishing diversity and inclusion initiatives, while assisting in the creation of Faculty Search and Selection Guidelines, which focus on implicit bias awareness and inclusivity.

Nancy holds a JD from Touro Law Center as well as a BS in Computer Science from Hofstra University.

Focus: Manages current HR system ensuring operational excellence and optimization of existing technology solutions; analyzes future organizational needs and how technology solutions can play a role. Serves as the principal subject matter expert between HR and Information Technology, identifying and recommending opportunities for continuous process improvements, automation and gained efficiencies. Responsible for HR system maintenance, upgrades and new implementation projects. Utilizes technology and analytical tools to analyze information as needed to support the HR Leadership Team and senior management. Develops processes for implementation on regulatory changes and their business impact while managing compliance risk.

Biography: An alumna of Fordham University, Damarie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Business and also holds a Master of Science Degree from the Graduate School of Education for Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy. Damarie has been with Fordham since 1999.


Deborah Adwokat

Focus: Provides counsel throughout the candidate selection process ensuring that hiring activities are in accordance with Fordham’s policies and Federal, State and local laws. She establishes on-boarding procedures and provides a personal orientation to newly-appointed administrators and faculty, introducing Fordham’s benefits, policies and culture. Additionally, she develops and leads new training programs, and enriches already existing ones to be presented to managers, staff and faculty. She also oversees legal compliance related to talent acquisition and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), defines legal contractor statuses and determines payment methods for employees.

Biography: Deborah holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling in Education from Lehman College, CUNY. She has over 20 years’ experience in Corporate Human Resources managing Staffing, Training, Employee Relations, Benefits and Succession Planning. She has managed the staffing and training area at Fordham University since 2005.

Biography: Stacey is an alumna of Fordham University, holding both a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Arts in Public Media, with a concentration in Strategic Communications. She has over fourteen years of relevant experience in Human Resources and Technology.

Focus: Responsible for the day-to-day functions of Fordham University’s employee benefits programs, including the Medical Plan, Dental Plan, Vision Plan, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, COBRA, Retirees, the Retirement and Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA) Plans, as well as the annual Open Enrollment process.

Biography: Eileen holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hartford. She has over 30 years’ experience in Employee Benefits and Human Resources. Eileen has worked at Fordham University since 2005.

Focus: Provides the Fordham community with sound recommendations regarding labor/employee relations disputes. Acts as the first point of contact in areas relating to performance counseling, advice and resolution on a broad range of general HR issues. Administers and oversees the University’s performance evaluation process, including recommendations for performance counseling. Responsible for managing the Background Screening Process for the University Community.

Biography: Jeanne is a Registered Dietitian and holds a Bachelor of Science, Nutrition and Food Science from Hunter College in New York. Jeanne joined the Fordham University Human Resources Management Team in 2016.

Focus: Responsible for the administration of Fordham's 403b Retirement Plan; functions as the key point of contact on employee and employer contributions, effects retirement plan contributions, assists in TIAA or Fidelity enrollment and individual counseling and assists on annual employee and employer calculations of maximum contribution limits; analyzes eligibility and authorizes employee transactions from the retirement plan such as loans and withdrawals.

Serves as the point of contact in initiating retirement from Fordham University; provides information on retiree eligibility and retiree benefits; facilitates the transition into retirement by coordinating Fordham's Retiree Medical Plan and Medicare and also assists with any retiree request related to payments from TIAA or Fidelity.

Biography: Xiomara possesses over 15 years of combined experience in both corporate and non-profit organizations in Human Resources and Employee Benefits. She started working at Fordham University in 2005.

Biography: Along with her 10 years at Fordham. Joanna brings over 25 years of experience in employee customer service from her previous background in television and advertising.

Biography: Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Fordham University. Mary has gained 15 years of diversified Human Resources experience during her employment with the Office of Human Resources Management for 15 years.

Focus: Processes all new hire paperwork for non-benefited employees. Provides electronic access to new hires, guests performing a service for Fordham and spouses of Fordham employees. Updates changes to names, addresses and marital statuses. Responds to department inquiries regarding forms, and guides employees through the access requests. Verifies that I-9 documentation is current and updated in the HR system.

Biography: Augusta studied at the Istituto Tecnico Commerciale (Commercial Technical Institute) in Italy and is fluent in Italian. Her educational focus was in bookkeeping and accounting. She joined Fordham in 2012 and became a part of the Fordham University Human Resource Management team in 2013.

Focus: Responsible for position management, establishing employee benefits for new hires, retirement adjustments, budget analysis, and timesheet approver management. Processes all labor change and labor redistribution. Updates employment data for the HR Information System. Responds to department inquiries regarding forms, and guides employees through the Tech Help tab. Produces ad-hoc reports on HR data for university departments upon request.

Biography: An alumna of Fordham University, Alecia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Media Management. She has been with Fordham since May 2016.
