CWA bargaining timeline, through March 18, 2024

Election held on April 5 and April 7, 2022
NLRB certified the CWA as bargaining representative on April 15, 2022
CWA sent 2 Cease and Desist letters, alleging Fordham made changes to its policies impacting FGSW Status Quo, sent on August 10, 2022
On August 22, 2022, CWA filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the NLRB, alleging 1) increase in fees (GSAS General fee and Student Technology fee) and 2) changing our Covid protocols (eliminating daily attestation that employee is Covid-free). The charge has since been withdrawn.
On September 7, 2022, CWA filed a second Unfair Labor Practice charge with the NLRB, alleging Fordham has (1) changed the worksite and location for bargaining unit employees (teaching modality); and (2) changed workplace rules impacting the health and safety of bargaining unit employees.
On September 6, 2022, CWA sent a “demand to bargain.”
On September 7, 2022, Fordham responded to demand by acknowledging receipt.

On February 16, 2023, union filed a third Unfair Labor Practice charge, alleging that Fordham refused to provide relevant information, citing FERPA; the charge is still pending

CWA refused to meet on May 26, 2023 (as Fordham suggested). The union responded as follows: We do not agree to your May 26th date as that is after the semester and many of our team have different work schedules at non-Fordham employers (if they lack summer funding) and limited in-person availability due to summer research and conference travel.
