Lorena Fernández Álvarez

Lorena Fernández Álvarez is director of digital communication at the University of Deusto (Spain) and head of its Artificial Intelligence Commission. A computer engineer with a master’s in information security and specialized training in AI ethics, her work focuses on gender perspectives in research and intersectional biases in AI. She serves on the European Commission’s Gendered Innovations expert group and participates in the Horizon Europe RE-WIRING project. She co-authored a book explaining AI to general audiences and contributes weekly to Cadena SER’s “Hoy por Hoy Bilbao” radio program.
