Charles Cange, PhD

Charles Cange completed his PhD in Global Health, Biostatistics, Trauma Studies and Medical Anthropology at the University of Washington. For his dissertation fieldwork, he spent several years living in the Middle East where he learned Arabic and conducted community-based research on the long-term health impacts of the Gulf War on Kuwaiti civilians. He earned his masters in Urban Sociology at the University of Paris, France.
 
He has extensive experience with long-term effects of post-disaster trauma among vulnerable populations, including trauma and HIV/AIDS prevention. Also, he has worked on and advocated for climate change and mental health research. Before his academic career, he worked in international relations with positions at the United Nations Environment Program and the US Embassies in Paris and Madagascar.

He is a four-time U.S. State Department Fulbright Scholar to Egypt, Kuwait, Thailand, and France.


Danielle Carragher

Danielle Carragher

Danielle Carragher is a Healthcare Informatics professional with over a decade of experience improving patient care through data-driven solutions.  She has led multiple large-scale initiatives focused on electronic health record optimization, clinical workflow, system redesign and interoperability between healthcare systems.  Her expertise spans across several disciplines including systems design and analysis, system integration, process improvement and decision support within complex healthcare environments.  

Danielle holds her Master of Science in Healthcare Informatics and continually expands her skills through system-specific certifications and professional conferences. She is passionate about bridging theory and practice by bringing a hand-on, application-oriented approach to teaching which ensures the students gain both conceptual and technical skills needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven healthcare landscape.

Beyond her professional work and academic work, Danielle has served her community for over 20 years as a firefighter and EMT.  She currently serves as President of her fire departments association and actively participates in community events each year.   


Shawn Desince, MS, MLS (ASCP)CM

Shawn Desince

Shawn Desince, MS, MLS (ASCP)CM, has joined New England College as an Adjunct Professor. Shawn is completing a doctoral degree in Health Informatics with a concentration in Health Data Analytics at Rutgers University (anticipated graduation of May 2026). With over 10 years of experience in healthcare, Shawn is the Chief Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Cellular Therapy department at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including healthcare information systems, health information technology, health data analytics, health data science, mobile health (mHealth), electronic health records (EHR), clinical decision support systems, pathology informatics, laboratory informatics, public health informatics, and the application of machine learning in healthcare delivery.


Michael Sanfilippo

Michael Sanfilippo

Michael Sanfilippo is Adjunct Faculty in Fordham’s Graduate Applied Health Informatics program and Director, Clinical Informatics & Information Technology at New York University. He leads teams of informaticists and technologists responsible for EHR modernization, interoperability, and a Snowflake-based real-time data hub that delivers trusted analytics for clinical and operational leaders. On the IT side, he oversees teams that build and maintain cloud IT infrastructure, supporting identity, endpoint, and platform services, while advancing security and reliability across environments. His teaching and mentorship focus on systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, and durable data practices around privacy, security, and governance. Michael holds an MBA from NYU Stern and an MS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California, Merced.
