  • What Defines Fordham’s Master of Science in Real Estate Development Program?

    The 36-credit Master of Science in real estate development focuses on the specialized legal, financial, analytical, and project-based professional knowledge and skills required in the multidisciplinary, creative, and entrepreneurial world of real estate development. No GRE/GMAT required.

  • Deadlines and Requirements

    Deadlines: We accept students on a rolling basis, but our preferred deadlines are June 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission. International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by April 1 for fall admission and October 15 for spring admission.

    3. Personal Statement: Tell us about your decision to pursue a master’s degree at the Fordham Real Estate Institute. How will this degree help you to achieve both your short-term and long-term goals? What skills will you combine with this degree to achieve them? Please be sure to address each part of the question. We recommend a length of approximately 500 words.

    4. Two letters of recommendation: These may be academic or professional references. The system will request contact information for links to be sent to the reference provider, or you may upload them yourself.

    5. GMAT test scores, if available.

  • The Fordham Real Estate Institute offers several scholarship opportunities to incoming students. This is financial aid that you don't have to pay back. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credits in the fall and spring semester and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Additional payment plans and loan programs are available through .


    • Notifications for fall semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-April of the entering year.
    • Notifications for spring semester scholarships begin going out via email to newly admitted graduate students in mid-November.

    Dean's Awards up to $10,000
    The School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers an array of Dean’s Awards that are applied in your first year of study in equal halves in the fall term and in the spring term.

    Applicants who would like to be considered for one of the following Dean’s Awards should email Debbie Lesperance, director of PCS admissions, at [email protected]. No additional application required.

    • Dean’s Scholar Award: $10,000
      The Dean’s Scholar award is the most competitive award offered through the Real Estate Institute. The scholarship committee identifies those who present the strongest applications, with an emphasis placed on prior academic performance, work experience, and the insight provided in a required admissions essay.
    • Dean’s Merit Award: $4,000 – $6,000
    • Dean’s Advanced Graduate Certificate Award: $2,700

    Building Futures Scholarships $5,000 – $15,000
    The Fordham REI Executive Advisory Council has created a Building Futures Scholarship Fund designed to offer financially challenged residents in the NYC five boroughs and surrounding counties access to graduate programs and meaningful careers in real estate and construction.

    An application is required. Please email [email protected] for the Building Futures Scholarship application.

    Requirements for applicants:

    • Must be a resident of one of the NYC five boroughs or surrounding counties
    • Must be admitted to a PCS REI graduate program
    • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application
    • Building Futures Scholarship Application must include a personal statement of financial impact.

    Curriculum Highlights

    • Core curriculum (27 credits) addresses the most important elements of real estate development legal issues, economics, market analysis, finance, construction methods and materials, pre-construction planning and design, entitlements, zoning, investment analysis, and feasibility analysis.
    • Elective program (6 credits) allows students to immerse themselves in specialized topics of their choice.
    • Capstone project (3 credits) offers students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a real-world setting using professional-quality practices.

    Joshua Harris, executive director of the Fordham Real Estate Institute, is a leading real estate economist and investment strategist specializing in real estate development, finance, capital markets, and business organizational leadership and strategy.

    Harris is also the managing partner of the Lakemont Group, a boutique real estate and economic consultancy with offices in Orlando and New York. He excels at assessing feasibility/profitability of projects, markets, and investment strategies/funds; examining the state of the macroeconomy and its impacts on real estate markets; delivering dynamic presentations for industry audiences; and providing strategic guidance and business development services for large organizations. He has been routinely called on as an expert witness and for media interviews in the field of real estate, finance, and economics.
