Study Abroad: Costs and Funding

Students who study abroad for one semester or more receive a bill from Fordham University's Office of Student Accounts, which in most cases covers the cost of tuition, housing, orientation services, and insurance.
"Out of Pocket" expenses, such as transportation, airfare, books, meals, visa fees, and entertainment are generally not included in this bill.

Tuition: Tuition is the same as Fordham University per-semester tuition
*Students enrolled in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies will pay the Full-Time Tuition rate for FCLC, FCRH, and GSB.
Housing: Fordham University will bill participants a fee that will cover the cost of housing during the program
Program Fee: Varies by program, but will typically cover costs for on-site orientation, program-arranged cultural and social activities, program-arranged trips, international health insurance, most meals (Granada home-stay and Ubuntu only), advising, and internship placement services (London Internship program only).
Other Fees: $600 Study Abroad Fee, General Fee, Technology Fee, and Fordham Study Abroad Application Fee ($125 or $175) will be charged to participants

Financial Aid Policy: Fordham per-term tuition charges cover Fordham in London, Fordham in Granada, and Fordham in Pretoria semester programs and Exchange Programs’ tuition. Given the student’s continuing eligibility, all Fordham financial aid will be portable for these programs except room-specific aid, work-study, and Metro Grants. Tuition Remission, Tuition Exchange, and FACHEX will continue in place for the programs mentioned above.
*Required university fees may include one or more of the following ( Intensive language course at the host university, mandatory orientation, program, or any other international program fees) the cost of which is paid out of pocket.
**Personal Expenses do not include personal travel while abroad.
***The visa/resident fee may include charges by the host university for international services (orientation, support, programming, transcripts, etc.)
^If you do not carry a U.S. passport, the visa/residence fee may vary.
^^All students are required to be covered medically while abroad. Some countries specifically require students to purchase health insurance upon arrival, others require proof of purchase in order to apply for the visa. -
Tuition and Housing: Fordham per-term tuition covers all fees that are billed to and paid by Fordham to your host institution with the following two provisions:
- when invoiced program fees exceed Fordham tuition, a supplement is charged to cover the difference.
- when invoiced program fees are lower than Fordham tuition, a credit may apply.
Other Fees: $600 Study Abroad Fee, International Insurance Fee ($300 for Fall / $375 for Spring), Tuition Premium (Equivalent to one-credit of coursework on campus in NY), General Fee, Technology Fee, and Fordham Study Abroad Application Fee ($125 or $175) will be charged to participants.

Students who enroll in one of Fordham University's Global Seminar or Summer Study Abroad courses receive a bill from Fordham University's Office of Student Accounts, which in most cases covers the cost of tuition, housing, orientation services, and insurance. "Out of Pocket" expenses, such as transportation, airfare, books, meals, visa fees, and entertainment are generally not included in this bill.
Tuition: Fordham Abroad Course Tuition is the same as Fordham per-credit summer or semester tuition. For a course taking place during the Fall or Spring semesters, tuition for the course indicated below is included in semester tuition up to 18 credits. For a course taking place in the Summer, tuition will be billed per credit in addition to the "Program Fee" indicated below.
Housing: Fordham University will bill participants a Program Fee that will cover the cost of housing during the program where indicated.

Students who opt to enroll in a short-term study abroad program that is not administered by Fordham University pay all fees directly to their host institutions except the International Insurance Fee ($75 per month).
Tuition: Tuition is paid directly to host institution
Housing: Housing is paid directly to host institution
Other Fees: A $75 Fordham Study Abroad Application Fee will be charged to participants
International Insurance Fee ($75 per month) *Please note programs that are less than one month in length will incur a $75 insurance fee and programs between 4 and 8 weeks will incur a $150 insurance fee charge.
