We continue to monitor each study abroad program location closely and may cancel programs or revoke program acceptances if there appears to be a significant health risk in that location. Should a program be canceled before your departure, your application fee will be refunded. We will also work with you to identify an alternative location or semester for study abroad or work with you to continue your studies with Fordham University.
Flexible Commitment for 2021-2022
We are aware of the uncertainty with planning for international travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic around the world so for 2021-2022 study abroad applications, the International & Study Abroad Programs Office will not charge a $500 withdrawal fee to students who withdraw from study abroad by the following dates:
June 29, 2021 for undergraduate fall 2021 programs in London
November 1, 2021 for undergraduate spring 2022 semester exchange, partner, and programs in London and Granada
A completed withdrawal form must be sent to email@example.com prior to the dates mentioned above to be considered for "Flexible Commitment." Application fees are non-refundable except in circumstances when Fordham cancels your study abroad program. Withdrawal requests received after the dates mentioned above, will be subject to the standard Study Abroad Withdrawal policy and fees:
All withdrawal requests must be made by the student through submission of the Study Abroad Withdrawal Form to firstname.lastname@example.org and are effective on the date they are received by the Office of International and Study Abroad Programs. The Application Fee is non-refundable except in circumstances when the University cancels your study abroad program. A $500 withdrawal fee will be charged to your student account.
Sixty (60) days prior to the published start of the study abroad program orientation, the Program Fee may be fully refundable with the exception of any non-recoverable costs*. Thirty (30) to fifty-nine (59) days prior to the start of the orientation, 25 percent of the program fee may be refunded with the exception of any non-recoverable costs*. Less than thirty (30) days prior to the start of the orientation, no refund will be issued.
Students who leave at the start or during the study abroad program, or who are dismissed from the program by Fordham University will not receive a refund and are responsible for paying their own travel expenses.
Tuition is charged by and paid to the Office of Student Accounts. Tuition rates, payment options, and the University’s tuition refund policy are available online at the Student Accounts Website.
*Non-recoverable costs - Please note that Fordham University makes a financial commitment to our partners abroad on behalf of students after signing the electronic commitment form in the Study Abroad Portal. If a student withdraws from the program or from arranged housing, only a partial refund may be issued. In the event that a refund is not possible, you will be liable for full program costs and will be billed accordingly.
For students participating in a Fordham Partner program or Fordham exchange program not administered by Fordham University, the refund policy of the sponsoring organization will apply and Fordham will bill you any non-refundable costs. The application fee you pay to Fordham University is non-refundable and you will be charged a $500 withdrawal fee in addition to any non-refundable costs charged by the sponsoring organization.
