Resolution of Appreciation
WHEREAS, Mario Gabelli, raised not far from Fordham’s Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx, excelled as a student in the College of Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude in 1965;
AND WHEREAS, he has had an extraordinary career as an investor having founded in 1977 the firm GAMCO Investors, Inc. which he leads today as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer;
AND WHEREAS, Mario Gabelli and his wife, Regina Pitaro, a 1976 graduate of Fordham College at Rose Hill, who share a belief in education as the great equalizer, made a transformative gift in 2010 that revolutionized business education at Fordham in the school now known as the Gabelli School of Business;
AND WHEREAS, in the midst of the centennial year of the Gabelli School of Business, due to the generosity of Mario Gabelli and Regina Pitaro and through the Gabelli Foundation, Fordham has received a second transformative gift for business education which is the largest gift in the history of Fordham University;
AND WHEREAS, this gift will provide scholarships and program enhancements for MBA and Ph.D. students at Fordham, an innovation fund to support the development, implementation and marketing of new business education programs, and an expansion of student-managed investment funds;
AND WHEREAS, in addition to providing exceptional opportunities to Gabelli School of Business students, this gift will raise Fordham’s philanthropic culture to new levels;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a grateful alma mater thanks Mario Gabelli and Regina Pitaro for their extremely generous support of the Gabelli School of Business and their philanthropic leadership of the University.
