  • Sun Yong Kim joined the Gabelli School of Business as an Assistant Professor in Finance and Business Economics in June 2026. He earned a PhD in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He also holds masters and bachelor degrees in finance and economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research lies at the intersection of political economy, international macroeconomics and asset pricing theory. In a nutshell, this research agenda ties puzzling features of the modern global financial system to the US military hegemony. Many of his solo papers have been presented at and received best paper awards at the top academic finance conferences such as the American Finance Association (AFA), Western Finance Association (WFA) and the European Finance Association).
