A Pathway to a Business Career for Veterans

The Gabelli School of Business Full-time MBA program offers veterans from across the military branches an opportunity to prepare for a career in business.  We are privileged and proud to have so many veterans in our program. The skills, leadership capabilities, problem-solving abilities, and technological prowess make those who have served ideal candidates for an MBA degree.

The Gabelli School MBA program also helps veterans to establish their network in the business community, while introducing or reintroducing them to the civilian work environment.

Fordham University is a Yellow Ribbon School and is committed to covering ALL TUITION AND FEES for eligible Post-911 veterans (or dependents). The Gabelli School of Business also offers a resource page for veterans who wish to learn more about the transition from the military to a business career.

Douglas Quimby Jr

Douglas Quimby, Jr. (Gabelli '19)
Head of Information & Cybersecurity Operational Risk Metrics  Monitoring, Goldman Sachs

Douglas Quimby, Jr. is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, whose calling to serve from a young age, was inspired by his grandfather, a World War II veteran. During his time in the military, Quimby thrived as an infantry squad leader and marksmanship instructor. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked in business development for a smart home company, but ultimately decided to pursue a BA in Organizational Leadership within the School of Professional Studies at Fordham University, through the encouragement of his wife who is an alumna of the program.

The strong veteran community, and supportive staff and faculty members at Fordham helped him to realize his potential as a natural leader with innate analytical abilities. This ultimately led to his pursuing an MBA at the Gabelli School of Business, during which a global immersion trip to Argentina, with his MBA cohort, opened his mind to the possibilities of pursuing an impactful career in business. The program’s comprehensive coursework and the two summer internships he completed at JPMorgan Chase & Co. helped to prepare him for the positions of increasing responsibility he held in the company’s Compliance, Conduct, and Operational Risk Division, where he served as the unit's vice president, substantially expanding its headcount and its capacity to manage risk and uphold compliance.

Today, he is the head of information & cybersecurity operational risk metrics & monitoring at Goldman Sachs.
